Conclusions of the conference

1/

In librarianship and information practice, use cross-sector penetration, thanks to which we can more easily achieve the set goals. For example in activities aimed at strengthening the reading literacy of young people, use the tools also listed in the educational curriculum.

2/

Create conditions for continuous education of librarians and information workers with a focus on current trends. In addition to the continuous education of stable employees, pay increased attention to newly hired employees in the field of librarianship and information science at all levels of management or professional areas (KIS, bibliography, computerization, cataloging, etc.). In the case of the education of library employees, create conditions for achieving the established national standards, taking into account the institution's capabilities, and use not only external but also internal resources (e.g. mutual education of employees)

3/

When advocating its activities in relation to the public, founders and funders, use international documents of relevant organizations (IFLA, EBLIDA, EP) and at the same time create constant efforts to implement them into documents, strategies and plans at all levels (from national to institutional).

In addition to the tasks and goals of professional organizations, actively participate in the fulfillment of the goals set in the documents of international organizations that take into account the impacts on the communities in which libraries operate (e.g. Sustainable Development Goals UN)

4/

Implement the conclusions and recommendations from the IFLA Strategy 2024-2029, the IFLA Trend Report 2024 and the Brisbane Declaration into the upcoming national library strategy.

5/

When implementing the national platform of library information services of the Slovak Republic, invite all relevant partners to a discussion, or establish an expert commission composed of representatives of the MKSR, libraries and institutions established by the MKSR, representatives of professional librarian associations with the aim of establishing the conditions under which an effective solution for implementation can be achieved of the new generation system defining the conditions of the pilot version. Subsequently, enable professionals from the field of information sciences and system development to comment on the conclusions of such a commission.

6/

Use online tools to the maximum extent to achieve your goals, taking into account individual areas of interest and target groups, with an emphasis on the preference for using online media and social networks. Use and involve in the promotion of library activities local personalities, promoters of reading and use the uniqueness of their physical and digital collections.

7/

To use multi-sector and transnational networks for the possibility of financing or co-financing of their intentions and goals, while making maximum use not only of the potential of institutions, but also of personnel resources.

8/

Base your intentions and goals on pan-European strategies with a direct impact on all users, especially vulnerable and excluded groups.

9/

In the field of providing services (funds, electronic resources and activities), keep in mind the principles of intellectual freedom, the defense of democratic principles, or continuously strengthen them with your activities. Maintain equal access in their practice, pay adequate attention to climate and economic changes and their impact on the communities in which libraries operate.

10/

Libraries, library workers at different levels must also focus attention in their practice on the field of artificial intelligence, as it is becoming an integral part of professional interests (also due to its use by clients).

11/

Libraries should, to the maximum extent possible, use tools and algorithms in their practice that can make their activities more efficient in the field of library activities or in the field of services provided. In the case of the implementation and introduction of new technologies (artificial intelligence, virtual reality, etc.), it is necessary to take into account generally valid ethical principles in each individual area, or actively participate in their creation. When using modern innovations, do not forget the vulnerability of such resources and tools (e.g. hacker attacks) and devote resources to the area of data protection.
