<\/span><\/p>\n

The basic goal of the symposium is to reflect on the current state of librarianship in Slovakia and abroad, outline the development of library science and practice in the near future, and name new challenges in the hypermodern domain. This is referred to as a time of paradoxes - on the one hand, culture is the highest of the company's values, on the other hand, its funding is undersized. On the one hand, education is extremely important, on the other hand, we admit the right to an opinion, even though it contradicts science and knowledge, and so we could continue calculating other paradoxes. Society, including libraries and other fund and memory institutions, is in the vortex of the fourth industrial revolution and a complex of cultural and social changes. The aim of the symposium is to highlight new challenges in contrast with our reality. We consider it important to share experiences, innovations and ideas with each other.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the individual areas (elements), we would like to reflect the following circles, which correspond with each other and in their practical outputs, intertwine with each other: profession, innovation and client.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Strategies for library development and\u202f<\/span>information practice (at different levels \u2013 national, sectoral, institutional; concepts, possibilities, challenges and their contribution);<\/span><\/li>\n
  • An efficient national library system (libraries of all types and\u202f<\/span>their roles in\u202f<\/span>within the structure) or how to find the key to functioning and cooperation;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The issue of sharing basic library data (absence of a national collective catalog; register of digitized documents; sharing of information resources at the national level, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Further education of librarians \u2013 uniform methodology for the development of competences and skills (problems of primary librarian education; accredited courses; digital competences, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The problem of professional ethics a\u202f<\/span>its application in\u202f<\/span>practice;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Libraries - a place of open science a\u202f<\/span>information... but? (copyright issues; equal access; resources and competences, etc.);<\/span><\/li>\n
