Makerspace in the library and extension of experiential learning in the classroom

Head of the DeLaMare Science & Engineering Library, University of Nevada, Reno (USA)

As makerspaces become more common in academic libraries, this session will explore how one such space is leveraging their resources and expertise to integrate making into a wide variety of disciplines and support the acquisition of student learning outcomes. While 3D printing, laser cutting, cnc milling and more are often acquired naturally in an engineering student's academic career, the DeLaMare Science & Engineering Library works to expand the critical and transdisciplinary skills acquired through making to disciplines beyond engineering, including art, information science, education, and more.
